Some stories remind us why education matters. This is one of them.
Years ago, Russell Ridge walked into Wiederstein Elementary as a first-grade student, where he was welcomed into Lorrie Housley's classroom. As he continued through SCUC ISD, Veronica Goldhorn served as his assistant principal and later principal, and Rhonda Presley became his sixth-grade teacher at Jordan Intermediate.
Today, Russell has come full circle.
He is now a teacher at Dobie Junior High, inspiring the next generation of SCUC ISD students in the very district that helped shape his own educational journey.
While Lorrie, Veronica, and Rhonda have each retired from SCUC ISD, their dedication to students continues. Today, they volunteer their time and talents with the SCUC Education Foundation, helping ensure future generations of students and educators have opportunities to succeed.
Stories like Russell's remind us that the influence of an educator extends far beyond a single classroom or school year. A caring teacher, encouraging principal, or supportive mentor can shape a student's future in ways that last a lifetime.
The SCUC Education Foundation is proud to celebrate the educators, volunteers, and community members who continue investing in the success of SCUC ISD students long after the school bell rings.
Because the greatest legacy an educator can leave is found in the lives they inspire.
