Michael Gonzales has been named Interim Principal of Samuel Clemens High School for the 2025–2026 school year.
Mr. Gonzales is a longtime educator with nearly two decades of experience, including the past several years in campus leadership roles. He most recently served as the Lead Assistant Principal at Byron P. Steele II High School and previously was an Assistant Principal at Veterans Memorial High School.
“This opportunity is personal for me,” said Gonzales. “After years of serving in other communities, I’m incredibly proud to serve the one my own family calls home.” His wife, Nayelhi, is an ESL teacher at Paschal and Rose Garden, and their daughters attend Corbett Junior High and Wilder Intermediate—both part of the Clemens feeder pattern.
A graduate of Texas State University with a master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UT Arlington, Gonzales is known for his positive energy and people-first leadership style. “I believe in doing my very best, having fun, and championing others at every opportunity,” he said.
As the school year approaches, Gonzales looks forward to connecting with students, families, and staff. “Clemens has a rich tradition and strong spirit—I can’t wait to help carry that forward.”
