SCUC ISD Trustees Call May 2 Bond Election

Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD Trustees Call $295 million, Three Proposition Bond Election

Voters will have the opportunity to vote on the proposal on May 2, 2026.

Based on the recommendation of community members, parents and educators representing each of the district’s high school feeder zones, the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City (SCUC) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call an election for May 2, 2026, for local voters to decide a three-proposition school bond proposal.

The $295 million bond proposal includes funds for upgrades and renovations to general facilities across the district, as well as projects at the district’s stadium facilities and the purchase of technology devices.

The bond proposal is not anticipated to increase the 2026-2027 tax rate. This is possible through increases in property values, which expand the district's existing tax capacity over time, along with debt repayment by the District.

Members of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) presented their recommendations to the Board during the special meeting. The CAC includes more than 75 parents, community members, and campus and district staff representing each of the district’s high school feeder zones.

The committee met eight times between September 10 and December 10, 2025. During that period, members reviewed district data, heard presentations from district staff, and toured campuses and facilities throughout the district.

The committee’s recommendation was presented to and approved by the Board of Trustees, with the election scheduled for May 2, 2026.

The bond proposals are organized into three propositions:

  • Proposition A (General Facilities) - Proposes $230.7 million for district-wide improvements such as campus security systems, classrooms and learning spaces, upgraded fine arts, physical education, and play areas, and campus renovations at multiple grade levels. It also addresses HVAC replacements, roofing and building repairs, drainage and paving improvements, transportation updates, technology infrastructure, and utility upgrades.

  • Proposition B (Stadium Facilities) - Proposes $55.3 for renovations at Lehnhoff Stadium to expand capacity and upgrade safety, security, accessibility, lighting, sound systems, and the scoreboard. Additionally, this proposition includes replacing stadium artificial turf at Steele High School and installing new stadium artificial turf at Corbett Junior High.

  • Proposition C (Technology Devices) - Proposes $9.1 million for technology replacement, specificially funding new computers, iPads, and Chromebooks for both students and staff.

To participate in the May 2 bond election, you must be a resident of the district and registered to vote. Early voting will take place from April 20 through April 28 at any voting location in your county of residence. Election Day is May 2.
