The SCUC Board of Trustees appointed Justin Archbold to fill the vacant Place 4 position during its called meeting on Monday, September 28.
The appointment follows an application and interview process approved by the Board to fill the Place 4 vacancy. The Board interviewed 14 applicants over the course of two called board meetings held on September 21 and September 23. Six applicants were invited back for additional interviews on September 28 before the Board took action on the appointment.
“We were encouraged by the number of community members willing to step forward and serve,” Board President Letticia Sever said. “Each applicant brought valuable experience and perspective to the process. We welcome Mr. Archbold to the Board and look forward to working with him as we continue focusing on the students, staff and future of SCUC ISD.”
Archbold, who has called Cibolo home since 2018, is a U.S. Army veteran and federal public servant with more than two decades of experience supporting government and public service missions. His involvement with SCUC includes service on the Community Advisory Committee and participation in the Raise Your Hand Texas Community Leaders Fellowship. He is also a 2024 graduate of Leadership SCUC, a district program that provided participants with an in-depth look at district operations, finance, curriculum and community engagement. Archbold also volunteers with the Byron P. Steele II High School Band Boosters as chief of maintenance and props.
“It is truly an honor to be selected to serve on the SCUC ISD Board,” Archbold said. “I look forward to joining this leadership team and making a positive difference for our district and community.”
Archbold and his wife, Kristin, have been married for 25 years and are the parents of two children, Addison and Erin. Kristin is a special education teacher at Dobie Junior High School. Addison, a 2024 Steele High School graduate, is a junior at the University of North Texas, and Erin is a junior at Steele.
Archbold will serve as the Place 4 trustee until the November 2027 Board election. At that time, Place 4 will appear on the ballot for voters to elect a trustee to serve the remaining two years of the current term. Place 4 will return to its regular election schedule in November 2029, when voters will elect a trustee to a full four-year term.
