There are numbers that begin to capture the lives touched by Allison Miller, by her own admission, during her odyssey as a principal at Norma J. Paschal Elementary School. Eighteen years and approximately 12,000 students. That doesn’t begin to measure the multitude of parents, staff and community members also reached during that span. Those figures are difficult to comprehend until you witness how Miller poured herself out to every person who sets foot on her campus.
The full scale of Miller’s influence was apparent at the retirement ceremony held in her honor in the school cafeteria on May 18, 2026. She was joined by teachers, staff, school board trustees past and present, fellow principals and colleagues from every campus- all gathered to thank someone who left every school she worked at better than she found it.

“I’ve had the awesome privilege of working with amazing educators who love hard, work hard and want the absolute best for our students.”

If you have ever visited the Paschal parking lot at morning drop-off for students, you would have seen a principal who knew virtually every student on campus by name, always ready with a smile, a dollop of hand sanitizer, and a hug. It was part of her nature to make sure every student felt seen, known and cherished.

“I’ve had the incredible honor of watching children go up through the SCUC school district and beyond - graduating college next to my own family,” she said.
That dedication was recognized in 2017 when Miller was named the Norma J. Paschal Commitment to Children recipient, the highest honor bestowed by SCUC-doubly significant as the principal of the namesake campus.

“Of the people I’ve touched - every one of them has shaped me in return,” Miller said.
She saved her most heartfelt thanks for her family - her husband, Chris, and her two children, Grace and Grant, along with her parents, grandparents and siblings in attendance.
“They have been through it all with me, and I can’t say thank you enough,” Miller said, trying to get through her message without crying. “To my babies, Grace and Grant, thank you. I’m proud of both of you. I love you very much.”
That love she shared with the Paschal community grew to be a force that shaped a generation of students, impacting them through academic excellence, a safe space to grow and learn, and the encouragement that continues to make a difference at SCUC to this day and into the future.
“The students, staff and community of SCUC will always be my proudest achievement.”
