Day 5 of Teacher Appreciation Week was the perfect finish to an amazing week! 🌟 A huge thank you to Constable Jeff Large for the delicious breakfast tacos and donuts this morning, and to kinder mom Chasity Rodriguez for the beautiful fresh fruit trays. 🍓🍍🍇 Our day ended on the sweetest note thanks to one of our 4th grade families, who surprised us after school with treats from Alsie’s Ice Cream Truck! 🍦 We are so grateful to the Education Foundation and all of the wonderful vendors and families who helped make this week so special for our staff. Your kindness, generosity, and support mean so much to us!

KEYBOARD CHALLENGE 🐾 Huge shoutout to our 3rd and 4th Grade Panthers! 🐾 Over the past month, students took on a keyboarding challenge focused on proper finger placement and accuracy. Their focus, determination, and hard work were incredible, and the growth we saw was truly phenomenal! ⌨️✨ A special congratulations 🥳 to our overall winners: 🏆 Mr. Mejia’s 3rd Grade Class 🏆 Ms. Montelongo’s 4th Grade Class These classes will celebrate with a popcorn 🍿 and popsicle 🍧 treat in class! Great job to all of our 3rd and 4th Grade Panthers — keep up the amazing work! 💙🐾

A huge thank you to Mrs. Armendariz, CIS, for organizing this hands-on experience and bringing our community helpers to campus. Students learned from Schertz Police Department, Schertz EMS, and Schertz Fire Department (and their awesome ladder truck!), along with Schertz Public Library, Alligator Dental, Beck Landfill, and H-E-B.

We love giving our students opportunities to explore careers and connect learning to the real world—what a fun and memorable day! 🐾

After a weather delay ☔️ last week, we were finally able to hold our 🪅 Fiesta Parade! 🪇 Our students and families created the most amazing floats! Thank you for making it such a colorful and fun celebration!

We kicked off 🌟 Teacher Appreciation Week 🌟 with our Snack & Stroll Patrol! 🍎🚶‍♀️ Snacks delivered door-to-door to keep our teachers fueled. 💛 Thank you, Lorrie Housely & the Education Foundation for helping make it happen. #TeacherAppreciationWeek

Schertz Elementary School is operating without an active Parent Teacher Committee (PTC), so in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, members of the SCUC Education Foundation stepped up this morning to bring food and cheer in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week. Three carts, filled with fresh fruit, chips and granola bars, along with passes for one hour of bowling at the nearby EVO Entertainment, helped brighten the morning of teachers and staff.

Lorrie Housley, Education Foundation trustee, thanked each teacher as they emerged from their classrooms and presented them with a gift pass good for one free hour of bowling this week at the EVO Center. While she and principal Geri Pope were expressing their gratitude, Kim Klinge, another Education Foundation trustee, was busy placing new appliances in the school’s teacher lounge. Two microwave ovens, a smoothie maker, a toaster and a game-changing air fryer - donated by sponsors, now are part of the room’s amenities for teacher use.

“It means more than words can describe,” said Mrs. Pope. “The work that our teachers do is moving mountains, and to show appreciation on a consistent level - to show the connection - it means a lot to all of us.”

More gifts are forthcoming this week for teachers and staff at Schertz ES as Education Foundation sponsors will generously extend the “thank yous” in various forms. Trane Technologies will provide lunch, courtesy of Chick-Fil-A on Tuesday. First United Bank will cover Wednesday with a Sweet Treats Bar, and Schertz Bank will deposit a Picnic Basket-themed lunch on Thursday. The week culminates with breakfast tacos on Friday morning, courtesy of Guadalupe County Constable Jeff Large for Precinct 3 - and a Friday afternoon treat from Aulsie’s Ice Cream Truck.

We thank the SCUC Education Foundation for its generous support and gesture, letting the Schertz ES teachers know their daily efforts are appreciated - and seen.

April is the Month of the Military Child 💜 Today we “Purpled Up” to honor and celebrate our amazing military kids! Our halls were filled with purple, along with meaningful writing and coloring activities recognizing their strength and sacrifice. 💜

Our Panthers are making a BIG difference for our planet! 🌎💚 Through our plastic bag collection, our students showed what teamwork and caring for the Earth looks like—collecting an incredible 27,403 bags! 👏♻️ A huge shoutout to our winning grade level, 3rd grade, who led the way with an amazing 8,692 bags collected! 🐾🏆 We are so proud of our Panthers for taking action to keep our Earth clean and green! 💚🌍 (Student Ambassadors shown)

Our 2nd Annual Paws-itiv-ity Walk was a success! 🐾💚

A little rain didn’t slow us down one bit! Students and staff enjoyed the cooler temps while walking to some great tunes, thanks again to Mrs. Bush’s dad, Mr. Ramos! 🎶

We loved seeing the amazing posters created by our families, all promoting positive self-talk and mental health. Such a powerful reminder of the strength in positivity! 💬✨

First collection ✔️ in our Plastic Bag Challenge! ♻️🎉 Our Panthers are already making a difference one bag at a time! Keep those plastic bags coming—Schertz Elementary will be collecting through Thursday, April 2. Let’s see how many we can gather together!
