Yesterday, the school cafeteria transformed into a lively hub of music, laughter, and community as our guidance counselors hosted a special lunchtime event. Combining celebrations for Hispanic Heritage Month with outreach for Suicide Prevention Month, the initiative aimed to bring students together, boost morale, and highlight important mental health resources.
Throughout every lunch period, Spanish tracks played over the speakers while students competed in various tabletop and lawn games. Laughter filled the room as participants faced off for a chance to win raffle tickets and prizes, ranging from gift cards to school gear.
Beyond the festive atmosphere, the event carried a powerful message of support and connection. Information tables set up near the games offered resources on mental health awareness and stress management. Counselors were on hand to chat with students, reminding everyone that help is always available and that no one has to navigate tough times alone.
The event offered a double reminder for the campus community: honoring the vibrant cultural contributions of Hispanic Heritage Month while prioritizing the well-being and mental health of every student on campus.
