Congratulations to two outstanding Byron P. Steele High School Seniors and exemplary AFJROTC Cadets. Rita Estes and Isabella Puerto were selected out of 171 cadets across the entire Air Force for the 2024 Air Force JROTC Flight Academy Scholarship. This summer they attended two partnering universities and earned their Private Pilot Certification.

Two members of the Byron P. Steele HS Class of 2022 were recently awarded prestigious scholarships by the United States Department of Defense (DoD). Kailey Rettmann, who was the school salutatorian in 2022, and Caleb Hernandez, who was tenth in the graduating class, received the Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship at the Smart Scholarship Orientation held in Crystal City, Virginia on July 16 and 17.
Rettmann and Hernandez will receive full tuition funding, an annual stipend, summer internship opportunities, mentorship, and guaranteed employment upon graduation!
Rettmann is an Oceanography major at Texas A&M University in the accelerated BS/MS program. Hernandez is a Computer Science major at the University of Texas-Dallas.

Prep-Day Info!!!

We want to remind families of new and continuing students that registration is NOT open as we are still transitioning to our new student information system, Skyward. We will update you via social media, ParentSquare, and our district/campus websites once Skyward is ready for parents to start the 2024-2025 school year registration process. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please mark your calendars! Prep days for the year 2024 are approaching.
July 31st: 11th and 12th-grade students
August 1st: 9th and 10th-grade students
Times: 8:00 am - 11:30 am & 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Purchasing off-campus ID is temporarily unavailable at the moment due to our system rolling over. Thank you for your understanding.
Incoming freshmen and new students are encouraged to attend "A Knight in Training" on August 7th from 5:00 pm to 7:45 pm, with a parent meeting scheduled for 7:00 pm in the auditorium. This is a great way to get to know your campus and find opportunities to get involved.

High School Summer Learning for 2024 will be at Steele High School from June 5th through June 27th (Monday through Thursday). No school on June 19th.
AM session is from 7:30 to 11:30.
PM session is from 12:00 to 4:00.
The cost is $50 per semester credit. Students may attempt a total of 2 credits.
Initial credit for 9th through 11th graders is avaliable for health and professional communications or PE.
Transportation is also available.

Senior Sunset is Wednesday May 15th at 7PM. We have ice cream, music, karaoke, games and the classic parachute culminating in a sunset picture at 8:19. Tons of photo opportunities with friends as well.

All library books are due by May 3rd. Return your books before the 3rd to avoid late fees. Books can always be returned in the book drop under the 2nd library window.
