Valued community partner GVEC is helping Samuel Clemens High School acquire new scoreboards for the Weldon Beard gym. The electric cooperative/internet services provider/HVAC/solar services giant is donating $32,386 for the purchase and installation of the scoreboards, which were last replaced in 1998, according to SCUC Athletics director Scott Lehnhoff.
Paige Meloni, SCUC ISD Superintendent, was on hand to thank GVEC for its continued generosity to the school district. She was joined by Mr. Lehnhoff, Alan Hill, Clemens HS interim coach/athletic coordinator; and Robyn Wunderlich, teacher and head volleyball coach.
Representing GVEC were: Gary Birdwell, Board President; Krista Davis, Senior Executive Manager: and Jeff Kerlick, Community Representative.

Another successful year of STEMKAMP, bringing a one week level of higher level thinking to students at SCUC. We thank all of the parties who made it a success, particularly Dee Thomas, our district's DoDEA Grant Director, who has overseen the KAMP since its inception.

SCUC Special Olympics received a boost from a community partner, as Gunn Chevrolet presented a $3,500 donation on the field of Lehnhoff Stadium this afternoon. District Special Olympians were on hand for the check presentation, which will go towards new equipment, letterman jackets and uniforms. Barry Klinge, Adapted PE/Special Olympics coach, accepted the donation.

Edwina Soto, PE coach at Wiederstein Elementary School, received a surprise visit from representatives from Firstmark Credit Union earlier today. She was awarded a $1,000 grant from the financial institution to help purchase a new playground parachute for students.
Playground parachutes are used to develop physical skills like hand-eye coordination, balance and mobility, using rhythm and music. Other benefits from playground parachutes include strengthened muscles and teamwork skills, such as social interaction and communication.
Congratulations Ms. Soto, and thank you Firstmark Credit Union!
