Dobie JH Honor Band Repeats as Best in Festival at Bluebonnet Music Festival
Cibolo, TX – On Friday, April 10, the Dobie Honor Band traveled to the renowned Lila Cockrell Theatre in downtown San Antonio to compete in the Bluebonnet Music Festival. This prestigious event attracts top-performing bands, choirs, and orchestras from across Texas and beyond, making it one of the region’s most competitive showcases.
Amid strong competition, the Dobie Honor Band delivered a memorable performance, earning a First Division rating, Outstanding Performance honors, and Best in Class. For the second year in a row, they were also named Best in Festival, solidifying their place among the top ensembles in the event.
“Taking the stage at Lila Cockrell Theatre is an experience our students will carry with them for a lifetime. Once they took their seats and locked in, they delivered a performance with even greater precision than at UIL Evaluation the week before,” said Band Director John Robertson. “This success is a direct result of the outstanding collaboration with Assistant Band Director Russell Barbee and the dedicated band directors at Steele High School, Schlather Intermediate, and Jordan Intermediate. Together, we’re helping our students grow and achieve at the highest level.”
The Dobie Honor Band, along with five other Dobie bands, will perform at their annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Steele High School Auditorium.
