Martin Luther King Jr. Day (often called MLK Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the third Monday of January each year. Dr. King was the main spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which protested racial discrimination in federal and state laws and in society. The movement led to several important changes in laws in the United States. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983. It was first celebrated three years later on January 20, 1986. Our Kinder Wildcats have been learning about Dr. King, his accomplishments, and his iconic speech, "I Have a Dream" speech.

Our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Team is wearing their ugly holiday sweaters to celebrate National Ugly Sweater Day! This day is usually celebrated on the third Friday of December, but our ECSE Team is celebrating it today! The tradition of wearing ugly sweaters started in the 1850s, but it became popular in the 1980s. Movies and TV shows helped make the ugly sweater a fun way to show holiday spirit.
