Meet the leadership team
Dobie FCCLA traveled to Orlando for the National Leadership Conference earlier this month. Students competed in STAR Events, went to the Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios, and Disney Springs! Three out of the four teams who competed placed in the top ten. Ms. Economidis and Ms. Morales are so proud of these Cougars (soon to be Knights) and all of their hard work and dedication this year.

Dear Dobie Families,

As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, we want to make sure you’re connected and in the know every step of the way. That’s why we’re encouraging all parents and guardians to download the free ParentSquare app on your phone.

This is the platform we’ll be using for school and district messages, event reminders, schedule changes, and even classroom updates. The app also allows you to communicate directly with your child’s teachers and receive messages in your preferred language.

Here’s how to get started:
- Download the ParentSquare app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Log in using the email or phone number you have on file in Skyward.
- Check your settings: Go to Account > Preferences > Notification Settings to choose how and when you want to receive messages (immediate or once daily, via text, push notifications, or email). You can also update your language preference in the Account Preferences.

To prevent message overload, we recommend setting your notifications to “digest mode” for non-urgent messages. You’ll still get urgent alerts right away—but everyday updates can be grouped into one message at the end of the day. When you receive this digest message at 6 pm, you’ll be able to scroll through all messages (by campus/sender) sent up until that point. Messages sent after 6 pm will appear in the following day’s digest message.

We’re excited to continue building strong, two-way communication with you through ParentSquare. Thank you for partnering with us to make this a great school year!

We have room for 32 kids in the tennis class because we have 4 tennis courts. We normally get around 80 kids who try out for the class. Tennis is an athletic class and a physical must be on file before the kiddos can tryout. School starts on August 14. I will send a paper home on how to upload a physical form on August 14 and 15. Tryouts for 7th and 8th graders will start that first Monday of school, August 18. I will feed from one side of the net to the other side 10 tennis balls. Please try to get physicals done ahead of time if you know that you will be trying out for the class. Almost all kids who make the team make at least 5-6 out of the 10 balls in the court. If you have any questions, you can contact me at jcuellar@scucisd.org .
Cougar Camp for 7th grade and new to Dobie students. Mon., August 11th 9-10:30am or 1-2:30pm. Students only. This is not a come and go event.
This camp is designed for boys and girls interested in being a part of, or learning more about, the Dobie Athletics Program. For 3 days, students will be provided with a preview into Dobie Athletics through a variety of strength and conditioning exercises and drills, as well as the opportunity to work on specific skills in different sports offered at Dobie. In order to be able to fully participate, we ask that students come prepared in school appropriate t-shirt, shorts, and proper footwear; no slides, sandals, Crocs.
