Today we’re celebrating National School Librarian Day!
To the keepers of the stacks, the masters of the research database, and the people who always know exactly which book will turn a "non-reader" into a bookworm—thank you.
Our school librarians don't just check out books; they teach digital literacy, spark imaginations, and create a safe space for every student to explore the world. We are so lucky to have you in our hallways!

Today is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day, and we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible individuals who do it all.
From providing one-on-one support to being a steady hand during tough moments, our paras are the "glue" that keeps our schools running. They see the potential in every student and work tirelessly to help them reach it.
To our amazing paras: Thank you for your patience, your dedication, and your heart. We couldn't do this without you! 🍎✨

On January 8th and 9th, 29 of our Dobie GT students took their seats at the 30th Annual Model United Nations of San Antonio (MUNSA) held at Trinity University.
Representing nations including China, Chad, Zimbabwe, and the United States, our Cougars dived deep into high-stakes global diplomacy. Using their parliamentary procedures and debate skills, they addressed some of the most pressing issues facing our world today, including:
🏥 Accessing medical care in developing countries
📚 Ensuring accessible education for women
🤖 Creating legislation for Artificial Intelligence
🌾 Addressing pollution caused by crop fertilization
We are incredibly proud of how these 29 delegates (with the help of their advisors, Mr. Carter and Ms. Springfield) navigated these complex topics with research, poise, and professional diplomacy. Way to represent Dobie Junior High on the international stage! 🏛️✨

Dobie Cheer 2026-2027 mandatory interest meeting February 5th, 5:30pm in the Dobie Library. Athletes are not required to attend. Please email bgilbert@scucisd.org with questions.

Dobie and Corbett Junior High students capped off their fall Gifted/Talented project by taking part in a two-day Junior Model United Nations conference hosted by Samuel Clemens and Byron P. Steele High School Model UN clubs. After one semester of a course emphasizing learning parliamentary procedure, research, debate, and argumentative writing, the seventh graders put their skills to work in simulated UN sessions in the board room of the William Malish Building on December 11 and 12, 2025.
Under the theme Revive, students served on two committees addressing persistent global issues: water pollution caused by crop fertilization and the lack of access to medical care in developing countries. Delegates researched causes, explored solutions, and debated policies, gaining experience in collaboration and critical thinking while tackling challenges that affect communities worldwide.
It was more than a lesson; it was exposure to real-life world issues. Dobie and Corbett JHS students involved were exposed to the necessity for cooperation, empathy and solution-oriented thinking through diplomacy.

Today, the 8th graders showed off some major creativity with our theme: "Any Holiday Except December Holidays!" 🐰🎃
Students who participated had a chance to be selected by their Cougar Time teachers to find Coach Buddy the Elf, who was hiding outside today! They searched the tennis courts and portables, but one student finally found him tucked away in the ticket booth at the football field! Excellent detective work from Ms. Lauber's CT!
Tomorrow is Coach Buddy's last day visiting campus before midterm exams. Any guesses where he'll be for his grand finale?

Today, Maria Sanches, owner of a local drapery business, stepped into Ms. Economidis’ Style and Brand Marketing classes to teach our students the art of hand sewing. After learning about advertising and the production of clothing, students were able to put their knowledge into action by hand-sewing their own ornaments!
As CTE classes, we love bringing in industry professionals to give our students real insight and hands-on experience in the trade—and today was the perfect example.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Sanches for taking time out of your day to invest in our students and help them build real-world skills! 💛✂️🧵
