The "Sentence Segmenting Surgeons" theme is a brilliant way to make grammar engaging. The students dressed in scrubs, masks, and hair covers like real surgeons bring the whole theme to life—definitely makes sentence work feel like a serious (but fun) mission.
Drumroll, please... Let's give a big round of applause for all of our Wildcats who worked very hard all year long in their UIL Competition categories and for our Wildcats who competed this past Saturday!

A group of young girls is standing outside a brick building under a covered walkway. Some of the girls are dressed in matching navy blue shirts with red and blue pom-poms, likely part of a cheerleading team. One girl wears a tan hoodie and jeans while chatting with another girl holding pom-poms. The girls have various expressions and poses, with some looking at each other and others focused elsewhere. In the background, two adults are standing near the building, one in a pink sweatshirt and the other in a white top, observing the scene. The setting appears to be a school or sports facility with a field visible in the distance.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day (often called MLK Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the third Monday of January each year. Dr. King was the main spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which protested racial discrimination in federal and state laws and in society. The movement led to several important changes in laws in the United States. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983. It was first celebrated three years later on January 20, 1986. Our Kinder Wildcats have been learning about Dr. King, his accomplishments, and his iconic speech, "I Have a Dream" speech.
